Island Vibe Surfaris' mission is to establish ourselves as the preferred surfari provider in South Africa for both international and South African surf travellers and to do so in a fun, safe and friendly way. We are a laid back, flexible provider with emphasis on quality accommodation, quality food and unmatched staff interaction, but we will never forget that the reason we came into this business is to show off South Africa’s beautiful scenery, friendliness and quality waves and in doing that, spread the stoke of surfing. Doing all of this, we will show you what the true meaning of “Living the dream…” is.

Surf Lessons:

1. Introduction to the environment
2. Stretching and warm up
3. Safety and basic surf theory
4. Entering and exiting the water
5. Wave selection and catching the wave
6. Standing up
7. Surf etiquette

Lessons are designed to get the beginner surfer to the stage where he or she can ride the green face of a wave within a week. The first 3 days are spent on the beach break getting a feel for the sport and ocean and varying conditions before venturing out with the instructor to an intermediate surf break. Most lessons are in the morning and you'll be taken out by a guide in the afternoons to practice what you learned in the lesson.

Intermediate surfers are to be assessed on there ability before a course of lessons can be designed to there specific wants and needs to challenge and improve there surfing.

Facilities:

Island Vibe Surfaris has a wide range of facilities including:

A fully licensed bar
TV and social areas including a pool table, foozeball table, big screen TV for surf DVD's, sporting events and movies
A restaurant serving breakfasts, lunches and dinners

A large garden
Private decks perfect for checking out the waves as well as the dolphins and whales that visit the bay.

Surf Camp instructors:

Our instructors are highly qualified, are first aid officers and have been surfing themselves since a tender age. Advanced lessons are done by Etienne Venter, a fully trained S.S.A level 3 S.E instructor and Life Guard, as well as selector of the National Springbok Surf Team and contest director for the S.A. Junior Surf Series.

Our Background:

Island Vibe Surfaris is owned by three partners. Between us, we have 35 years of experience in running, owning and living in backpackers around the world. We are well travelled and learned a lot on our travels, not only about what you (the guest) would expect from us, but also how to improve our product and how to make the experience for you as good as we can.

We are confident in saying that South Africa is arguably the best surf destination for travelling surfers as we not only have a favourable exchange rate for foreigners, but also the unmatched scenery of our landscape, our good and consistent waves as well as doubling it up with our national parks and the African Big 5 (Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant).
