At Island Vibe Surfaris, we're trying to make it easier for travelling surfers who don't like the hassle of taking your board/s on a plane to get it to another country. You can get a custom board shaped for you to be ready on arrival. This way you can take advantage of the fact that surfboards in South Africa is so much cheaper that most other countries, because of the exchange rate, cheaper cost of materials and labour. All custom boards needs to be ordered one month before your planned arrival date. We also have a small selection of beginner boards in stock.

We are using two shapers in Paul Jackel (Local Motion Surfboards, Jeffreys Bay) and Simon Fish (Fishstix Surfboards, St Francis).

Paul is regarded as the best finisher in the business and has been working with the best in the industry. Paul's been around the block and it shows in the awesome boards that he produces.

Fish Stix Surfboards: Simon Fish (see shaper's bio) is one of the best shapers around and his in depth knowledge of the local conditions and the fact that he competed internationally at age group level, definitely gives him an advantage. We have an agreement with him which makes our boards cheaper than you would find in the shops!

Custom Boards:

Like mentioned earlier, surfboards in South Africa are so much cheaper than in most other countries because of a favourable exchange rate, cheaper materials and cheaper labour. Even though the boards are cheaper, they don't lack anything in performance or quality!

Fill in our surfboard order form and we'll get our shaper to send you the file used to profile the board and you can have a look at your board before giving us the go ahead.

Travelling with a surfboard can become a hassle and cost you loads of money (on certain airlines). In ordering your custom board, you don't have to travel with your board to South Africa. If you don't feel like taking the board back home, just speak to us and we might even buy it back from you!
